WE HAVE A LITTLE CATCHING UP TO DO!

It hasn't been a great time for photography for us, and birding is difficult in the rain and mist. However, on May 17th we sallied forth to our favorite sites. Much to our surprise, we found this guy.

He wasn't very interested in us so I whiled away the time looking at the scenery.

We were about to leave when our friend decided to take off too.

Note his flying detritus?

Gorgeous wings!

And -- he's gone!

Further down the road we saw this little guy, a Greater Yellow Legs. I've never seen one in this area before so was surprised and pleased.

But never so surprised as when I put this shot up and saw these little "birdies".

And yes, that's water hemlock. This toxic plant is everywhere this wet spring.

It was an interesting day.
