We've been visiting the wetlands at Chinook Landing for months and it is fascinating watching the water levels retreat.
In June, we were watching an at least 150 foot wide pond full of herons, geese, and egrets with vultures and osprey overhead. It looked like this:

Lots of water. And then came July --- this egret is wading in the middle of the pond, not the edge

This is how the pond looks now, at August 12th. Just a tiny meandering creek that shrinks daily. Note how the banks are broad relative to the water.

Every day the water level falls lower.
