AN EVASIVE SPECIES

Starlings really are no one's darling. They are considered an invasive species and are credited with the reduction of native species, But they are smart: They form large flocks that work cooperatively to achieve their survival and they escape predation.

And they are crazy mad flyers. How's this for an evasive maneuver?

Observe the tight efficiency of the wings allowing many individuals to occupy a small space.

This individual arrived late for the party and had to cut lift rather abruptly. But she just drops into a tight space.

And as quickly as they arrived, they were off again in a cloud of wings, forming a minor murmuration.

It is perhaps a good thing to occasionally reflect upon the merits of one's enemies.
