RIDGEFIELD IN JANUARY

Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge is beautiful in all seasons -- if you have the eyes to see.

In rain and mist,

Partly sunny or partly cloudy

There is always something to see. Like this Trumpeter Swan and his companions. They are the largest native bird, weighing in at over 25 and up to almost 40 pounds.

And so many ducks! And of course, the coots ...

Let's not forget to mention the heron at his meal

Nor the red-winged blackbirds feasting on dried cattails.

Deer browse and make their morning ablutions

While the geese just rise above.

So much beauty!
