Bird Watching at Pearson Air Park

Writer: AdminAdmin

You have probably all seen this great museum in the Barracks Complex in Vancouver. It includes a small airstrip and is just across the Columbia River from PDx.

We spotted some interesting birds while we were visiting recently. This little Piper was doing touch and goes --- he alights, then flits off again, gaining elevation. Then he goes around and does it all again. As with all birds, practice makes perfect!

A passenger jet ready to land.

And here is a formidable DC-10 Heavy (maximum take-off weight 300,000 pounds or more!) ready to unload cargo. He was undulating through the air - nose up, nose down - getting his speed just right. Impressive

And let's not forget that we weren't the only bird watchers!
